Bengalis in America gear up in good time to spread the cheer. Come October and Bengalis world over yearn for the dhak, dhol, and arati. The magic of the festive season spreads cheer in every home.

No wonder then in the USA Bengalis have formed several associations to celebrate the five days in style. For Bengalis its not just a festival, its a time to celebrate one’s culture and tradition. Here Durga Puja is celebrated on weekends closest to the five auspicious days. But no one regrets that. All that matters is the fun and the spirit. The festivities will begin right from 15 October and will carry on till the 18th of this month with anjali and evening arati. And the main attraction for the Bay Area residents is Shreya Ghoshal’s live performance. Whether in Bengal or in the USA, the countdown for merriment begins with the onset of autumn.

From Oct 1st till Oct 17th, Shreya was in the US on a tour for raising funds for Non-profit organization PrathamUSA and Pratham. Ms. Deepti Vyas, Vice President (Pratham@UH Chapter) informed us that she had helped in organizing the show at the university - Univ of Houston and it was a wonderful show. (more…)
